Memorial

We continue with our appeal to raise funds to develop a National Organ Donor Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffordshire. The memorial will pay tribute to the donors and their families who have made the gift of life possible, recipients of transplants, those waiting for a transplant and those whose wishes to donate could not be fulfilled.
The Donor Family Network strongly believes that a memorial to organ donors should be funded by the people – those whose lives organ and tissue donation has touched and those who support transplantation.
The memorial encompasses three themes:
Reflection: a place of reflection and contemplation for all those who have been touched by or support organ donation.
Recognition: where the kind and generous gift of life can be recognised.
Remembrance: where all donors can be remembered with love.
Funds are raised in a number of ways including kind donations from both donor and recipient families and sponsored events through Just Giving.
We are now closer to achieving the costs to build the memorial. There are other areas where donations are needed to fund essential elements;
- The plot at the memorial will cost around 30k
- Groundwork will cost around 5k
- Path and plinths will cost around 5k
